Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Frela app and the frela.app website (the "Service"), operated by Fritz Döbel. By using the Service you agree to these terms.
1. What Frela does
Frela scans food products — by barcode or by reading the ingredient label — and gives them a transparent 0–100 score built from the official Nutri-Score model, additive risk and organic quality.
2. Not medical or dietary advice
Frela is an informational tool to help with everyday food choices. It is not medical, nutritional or dietary advice and does not replace a professional. Scores are estimates. Barcode data comes from a public database and label parsing uses automated text recognition and AI, which can be incomplete or wrong. Always check the actual product, especially for allergies or medical conditions. You use Frela at your own discretion and risk.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to use the Service.
4. Frela Pro subscriptions
- Frela offers a free tier and an optional auto-renewable subscription, Frela Pro (weekly and yearly plans). Current prices are shown in the app before you purchase.
- Purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. Payment is charged at confirmation, and the subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms.
- We may change prices or plan features; changes apply to future billing periods and, where required, with notice.
5. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Service: no reverse engineering, automated scraping of our backend, attempts to bypass rate limits or security, or use that infringes others' rights or breaks the law.
6. Data sources & intellectual property
Frela, its design, scoring logic and content are owned by us. Barcode product information is provided by Open Food Facts and is used under the Open Database License (ODbL). Nutri-Score is a method published by Santé publique France. Product names and brands belong to their respective owners.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that scores are error-free or that the Service will be uninterrupted.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on a score. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including for intent or gross negligence).
9. Changes
We may update the Service or these terms. Material changes take effect when posted here with an updated date; continued use means you accept them.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
